Barry Charnock

I have been painting since 2021 as “A retirement Pastime” I have filled my home with paintings replacing older works with more skilled newer ones.

I painted as a child and studied up to grade 10 in high school in England obtaining my O level. I had no formal oil painting training but was blessed with a students set of oils as a teenager with which I fiddled until I left for university in RSA to study to become an engineer. I have always been a keen observer and photographer trapped in a practical structured profession. When I had children I allowed my artistic skills to blossom in painting murals on their bedroom walls. On retirement in 2021 I went to oil painting classes  for a short period. The rest as they say is history. I love painting seascapes trying to capture the mood, the motion, the colour. I have taken part in 1 art competition, sold 3 paintings and done a single commission to date. I have exhibited locally, but my desire is simply to share my love of my surroundings with others.
