Erika du Plessis

Erika du Plessis recently moved to Jeffreys Bay where she looks after her 2 granddaughters (10 & 16 yrs). As a single mother of 2 daughters, she didn’t have much time to paint, but decided to become a full time artist now at the age of 60. Although she’s always loved drawing and painting, most of her works were gifts for family and friends. Her biggest art achievement would be the huge murals done at Zulu Nyala Heritage Hotel in Hluhluwe whilst working as a ranger there. Due to her passion for nature, she worked as a ranger for 23 years. Her love for nature reflects in her work, and her favourite subjects are animals, flowers and birds. She also loves colour and this reflects in most of her art works. Most of her work are mixed medium, mostly acrylics, acrylic pens, and texture paints and papers. The style she loves most is a combination of abstract and realism. She loves bold brush strokes and uses a palette knife here and there for texture. She has no formal training and just paints for the love of it.
