Fern Bonny

I was born and raised in Port Elizabeth, moved to Pretoria in the 80s, and discovered art. I dabbled in clay sculpture, oils, pencil and watercolour. I took art classes with Diek Grobler, one of South Africa’s leading artists, whose works have been sold throughout the world. We remain firm friends to this day.
Then, life happened, I had two amazing daughters, and I didn’t pick up a brush or pen for over 25 years. On my 60th birthday, my family gave me art supplies and I rediscovered my passion for creating. I also discovered that I’m far more capable than I ever imagined! I paint, draw or doodle every day, using the nature reserve we live in, and my beloved animals, as inspiration.
I’m fortunate to have the unstinting support of my partner and daughters through it all.
