Mariette Marias
Mariette formed a love for art when she understood perspective in Grade 6 in her school art class. From there she went home and did a painting in watercolours of her little puppy and that is where the journey began. Mariette took art as a subject in high school and then only much later in life, when her kids were grown, did she attend Technikon in Bloemfontein to study art.
Over the years Mariette took part in a variety of exhibitions in groups as well as a duo-exhibitions. Some of her artwork has been commissioned internationally . She also spent around 5 years living in the USA. Her favourite medium is oils and she is very inspired by things that she’s drawn to that are beautiful and especially enjoys painting portraits.
Mariette taught art for 13 years at Jacquey Theron art school in Pretoria. In Douglas in the Northern Cape she also taught adult art classes for 7 years.
