I am a South African contemporary artist, Jeffreys Bay Eastern Cape.
Having grown up on a farm, living close to nature, involving also caring for nature was a part of my life. I was able to link nature and art, that become later part of my life by doing ceramics in my own teaching studio for ±25 yrs. In 1999 I obtained a degree in Fine Arts at Unisa.
I find inspiration in the concept of Mother Earth, with respect for life as dictated by ecological principles. My current focus in art-making is on the mutual impact of humankind’s lifestyle and the natural environment.
I mostly concentrate on up~cycling projects where I combine photography, digital images drawings and over-drawings to create layered images of discarded artworks and found objects.
I am running my own art gallery Kuns Plek / Art Spot at home, curating group exhibitions, and hosting open studio activities on selected Friday afternoons for artists and friends to gather and discuss art to foster creativity and inspiration.
